Episode 13

Wow, what an incredibly busy day!! Samhain, trick or treating, time change…OH MY!! Trick or treating was a blast. My son was dressed as a winged Grimm Reaper. He looked awesome, but it was also hot. Therefore, he soon ditched the mask and the hood came down. He looked like a friar….too funny!! I appreciate everyone who voted on the poll over on FB. The show be extended…..now what? We shall see:) I hope you all have enjoyed the October episodes. Everything will be somewhat back to normal in November.

In this episode, we heard two songs by Hungry Lucy, Grave and Bound in Blood – Insomnia Remix, and the background music heard during the Paranormal Segment was Riding the Banshee by Dan-O.

For Lesson 12: Designing a Spell, we learn how to design our own spell and not have to depend on spells found in other sources. We have the means to do this as long as we know how. This is where the correspondences we discussed last week comes in handy. Think of your goal. Once you have done this decide which day of the week is best and which phase of the moon is best. Choose what color is best associated with accomplishing the goal you have and choose this color for your candles. For your ritual bath, add an herb that has properties best connected to your goal. To the when choosing a gemstone. When speaking the spoken part of your spell, hold the gemstone in your hand. Then carry the gemstone with you until your goal is accomplished. The spell can be completed at your alter. Don’t forget to write all of this information in your BOS and also include the date and the way your goal is accomplished.

The book assists us with reaching our Hall of Consciousness. The use of the spiral staircase is a great way to do this. However, you can choose any setting you like to do this. Maybe you are more relaxed by walking on the beach or walking through the woods. Whatever works for you is fine as long as you are able to find the answers you seek. Next we learn about the aspects of deity and connecting with goddess. For learning the aspects, remember to only work with one form of deity at a time. Again, don’t forget to write what you did and what happened in your BOS. When connecting with goddess, the book instructs us to add a red candle to our alter. Light the candle everyday and feel the connection you experience.

After working through this lesson, part 1 of the book will be completed. Next week we begin on part 2 which consists of the following lessons:

  • 13: Increasing Psychic Ability
  • 14: Divination
  • 15: Labyrinths
  • 16: The Broader View of Wicca
  • 17: Understanding the God and Goddess Relationship
  • 18: Designing Rituals
  • 19: Spell Variations
  • 20: Herbal Gardens
  • 21: Concept of Time
  • 22: Numerology
  • 23: Numerical Value
  • 24: The Nature of Reality

Thank you all for the votes over at Podcast Alley for October. I made it to #15….AWESOME!!

Ok everyone, we are only on episode 13, but I will be done with these lessons on Episode 50. We need to go ahead and starting thinking about where we want to go next. Do we want to continue with Wicca a bit longer or do we want to explore another pagan path. During my meditations this past week, Kitchen Witchcraft has constantly been coming up. Maybe that is the next avenue for me to explore…..guess I will need to visit my Hall of Consciousness to find the answer! I would like your input on this. You are as much a part of this podcast as I am so I would like to hear your thoughts.

Paranormal Segment:

I share with you yet another one of my experiences and one of my aunt’s experiences. For my story, I was with a group of friends trying to see the local urban legend Bingham’s Light. Though we did not see the glowing light, something happened. I noticed flashing lights around my friend’s car after he attempted to provoke the spirit of Bingham. When it was time to leave, his car would not start. Guess it was not such a bright idea for him to provoke:) We then went to Montrose Cemetery. This is an old cemetery located on the edge of a cliff known to be haunted by a big, tall, dark figure of a man. This night was crazy and one of my friends vowed to never ghost hunt again!! Listen to the podcast for all the details.

You all have a great week and I can’t wait to spend even more time with you next week.

Blessed Be,

Merry Meet Everyone!!

I start off the show by going over some listener feedback I received concerning Wands. So far I have received 2 emails concerning last week’s Hot Topic, so if you have not responded yet please do so this week. A poem was submitted to the website by Ronnie so don’t miss it on the homepage.

This week’s music is Harvest by Hungry Lucy found on the Podsafe Music Network. More music by her can be found here.

As for the lessons, I recapped Lesson 5: Casting a Circle. I really enjoyed this lesson and was unable to do the portion concerning the Full Moon Ritual but will on the next full moon. Moving forward onto Lesson 6, we learn about Magical Tools. The lesson starts of with explaining the difference between a pentagram and a pentacle and provides an explanation of what the points of the star represent. The lesson continues by teaching the reader on how to create a sacred space. The lesson ends with Psychic Communication. I am really looking forward to completing the lesson this week.

Mabon will be on Sept. 22. Though I have never been able to officially celebrate this sabbat, I can offer a tiny bit of information to those who are new and interested in celebrating the arrival of autumn. Mabon is the celebration of the 2nd harvest and is the 1st date of the autumn equinox. It is a time to be thankful and take into account what you have accomplished over the past year.

Candle colors associated with Mabon are autumn colors like burgundy, orange, brown, etc.

Fragrance generally used: Sweetgrass, pine myrrh

Types of Food: Roasted poultry or smoked, various breads, nuts, various soups, wine…Typical items you may normally have on a typical Thanksgiving Day.

You can search the internet for activities generally performed on Mabon. As for myself, I will be lighting candles and taking some time alone to reflect on my life this past year. It has been amazing: started homeschooling sons, started working from home, strengthened relationship with family, thankful for such a supporting husband, etc…

I thank the Lord and Lady for helping me find the strength to take the leap of faith I had to take in order to make my life as amazing as it is today!!

Don’t forget, if you have not done so already, become a friend of the show over on Facebook. You can also follow me on Twitter, just go to twitter.com/meadowmoon. Also, if you haven’t voted at Podcast Alley for this month, go over and vote!!

Look forward to chatting with you again on Episode 8…

Episode 2 (Repost)

Merry Meet Everyone!!

Thank you to everyone that has downloaded the podcast. I have been working really hard to get this podcast up and running. A Pagan in the Threshold can now be found on iTunes, Podcast Alley, Podcast Pickle, and I forgot to mention that I can also be found on Libsyn.

I have been really nervous about playing music on the podcast due to copyright issues, but I did overcome this fear fast when I found the Podsafe Music Network. In this episode you will hear Hungry Lucy’s “In the Circle”…..I love this girl’s voice. You can find her music here.

To assist me in the rebuilding of my “foundation” as a pagan, I have decided to use the book “Witch School: Living the Wiccan Life” written by Debbe Tompkins and published by Llewellyn. This book starts at the very basics and builds up week by week through lessons and exercises. The book advises the reader to devote one week to each lesson and the exercises recommended for that lesson. I like how the book is set up because this works well for the purpose of the podcast, rebuilding the foundation of pagan beliefs.

The book is for Wiccans and is based on the Correllian Tradition. I had to Google this tradition since I was not familiar with it. If you would like to know more about their tradition and what sets tham apart from other traditions, go to www.correllian.com.

The first lesson is Connecting with Deity. In the podcast, I go into further detail about the exercises offered for this lesson. This book seems to be off to a good start. In all, there are 49 Lessons….now that I remember, I am not sure that I said that correctly in the podcast…hmmm….anyway….moving right along!!

If you would like to get this book and follow along with me through the lessons, you are more than welcome to. Let me know, I would love to hear from you!!

I hope you enjoy the first Hot Topic segment. For this episode, I wanted to discuss tarot cards due to a recent discussion I had on the issue. Here are the questions I really want your feedback on:

  1. Can you purchase your own set of tarot cards or must they be gifted to you? If it has to be gifted, why?
  2. How do you cleanse your cards?
  3. How do you store your cards?

For the above questions, provide what details you can as far as were you taught this, what is the reasoning for why you chose the method you did, etc…

If this segment is a success, I do have a few more Hot Topics I can bring up but you are always welcome to submit some ideas as well and I will discuss on future podcasts!!

Hope you enjoy Episode 2 and I’ll have another episode out next week.

Blessed Be,

MeadowMoon
