Episode 14

Hope everyone is doing well! The forum is FINALLY active so be sure to check it out and be sure to recommend any topics you feel should be added. Also, please take the time to register for the blog and the forum so we can share information with other listeners and amongst each other:) I would also like to mention that if you are listening to the podcast and are enjoying it, feel free to leave a review over on iTunes.

In this episode we heard the following music: Circle is Now Open by Chalice and Blade and Pagans by Greenfoot.

This week we will be working on Lesson 13: Increasing Psychic Ability. Some forms of psychic ability are as follows:

  • ESP (Extra-Sensory Perception)
  • Precognition
  • Telepathy
  • Psychometry
  • Clairaudience
  • Clairvoyance

If you feel that you are non-psychic, give it time. Make sure to continue doing ritual and alter work, meditate every day, continue to scry with the magic mirror you made previously. Also learn to pay closer attention to your intuition. When you feel the urge to check something or do drive in a different direction somewhere, listen to that little voice. Even if you don’t do it, learning to listen to and acknowledge you intuition is an important step in increasing your psychic abilities. Be aware that this may take some time so don’t try too hard. Trying too hard can actually shut down your abilities.

We also learn in this lesson to set boundaries. The Wiccan Rede may say Harm None, but that does not mean you have to be a doormat for other people. Rather than harm people in situations where you may feel threatened, learn to protect yourself. This can be done by warding, protection and binding spells. Don’t try to control or manipulate others, simply defend yourself. As we continue, we learn to banish negativity, we learn how to increase our concentration which helps greatly with increasing your psychic ability, we learn the technique of  forming an invisibility cloak and lastly lucid dreaming. As always, don’t forget to document your experiences in you BOS.

Hot Topic:

In Episode 12 I asked for your views on substitution during spellwork. Did you feel that you should always follow a spell to the exact ingredient? Based on the feed back I received, substitution is often fine though there may be times when you feel the spell was not as powerful because of the substitution. The intent behind the spell is often what makes the spell work or not. Thanks for sharing your information on this.

I have decided to discontinue the Hot Topic. Maybe I will pick this up again in the future.

Pagan Unity Day in Charleston, SC was amazing. This was my first formal pagan event and I am already looking forward to next year!! I was highly impressed with the vendors and the items they had available. The workshops held were my favorite part. I can’t forget to mention the awesome drumming. If you ever get a chance to attend a pagan event, don’t miss out on the opportunity.

Hope you all have a great week!!

Episode 12

Hello everyone….sorry for the ranting about Algebra right at the beginning of the podcast!! Guess I just needed to vent my frustrations:) Thank you all for the constant downloads….You all do a good job at making me feel all warm and cozy inside!!

Music heard during this episode were Cauldron of Changes by Lindie Lila and the background music during the paranormal segment was Halloween. Both can be found on the Podsafe Music Network;)

Moving into Lesson 11: Correspodences, we learn the basics concerning the associations between spellwork and which day of the week to perform certain spells. Even the phase of the moon has to be considered. In addition to this, we also learn about the color correspondences. For example: Blue represents healing, peace communication, creativity. The lesson provides information about Spoken Spells. This is great for people who love words and poetry. We learn further information concerning candle magic. We learn what the term “dressing” the candle means. As for anointing oils, this can be obtained at your local metaphysical shop or can be ordered from a catalog and from the internet. You can also make you own by doing the following:

  1. Start with a small amount of oil, about 1 or 2 oz. (Sunflower, safflower, or almond oil)
  2. Place 1/2 to 1 tsp. of the herb of your choice into the oil.
  3. Let stand for a week in a dark, coll place.
  4. Strain the oil and store in a sterilized, opaque bottle.
  5. Store in a cool, dark place away from heat and moisture.

By making the oil yourself, you have added your personal energy to the oil and thus to the spell:)

We also learn in this lesson about the magical correspondences of common herbs and spices. For example: Cactus represents protection and Gardenia represents love, passion. Much of this information can be found by searching the internet. I hope to have a listing of the herbs and their magical and healing properties on the website at some point in the future. The book goes briefly into Protection Spells and explains how to make your own bath salts.  Lastly, we learn about Omens. The key to omens is to may attention to messages in your everyday life. You never know when these messages will appear for you. In can be on a page of a book, a bumper sticker, or even in the clouds, you never know until you realize…ha ha…now I get it!!

Hot Topic:

As for the topic introduced in Episode 10 on seances and Ouija boards, I only received one piece of feedback. Elaine was in agreement with me that Ouija boards are not “evil” but when using one you have to be serious and protect yourself accordingly.

For the new Hot Topic which will discussed on Episode 14 is as follows:

On the subject of correspondences, when is substitution able to be done without making your spell work turn into a disaster? Sometimes you simply don’t have all the items needed for a particular spell like a certain herb or a certain candle color. Also, if you have been in this situation before, what did you do? Did the spell still work using a substitution or were there consequences for using a substitution.

Paranormal Segment:

I share with you the current situation I am dealing with at my home. I have one pacing spirit on the front porch that apparently likes to peek into the window on a nightly basis. This happens every night. He has been loud a couple of times but mostly he just paces. Ironically enough, he is never around while I am recording the podcast. This is the spirit of my husband’s uncle who died in the house, I think anyway!! There has also been a second presence inside our home. I have seen a dark figure crawl across our kitchen floor and sitting in the computer chair in my bedroom. My youngest son has also seen this spirit walk by his bedroom door. Though this particular spirit feels intimidating, I really don’t feel threatened but I don’t feel all happy either. They are here possibly trying to figure who we are and why we are here. As long as I don’t feel threatened by them, they are welcome to stay:)

Thank you all for continuously showing your support.

Blessed Be,

MeadowMoon

Episode 10

Welcome to Episode 10…..Yay, my first double digit episode!!

Everyone had the chance to hear me rant a bit about the damn cable company. Due to the fact that they decided to work on the lines, I was unable to access the feed back I received for the Hot Topic because I had no internet access……anyway, the show must go on.

In this episode we heard music from The Frenzies – Witch. The background music heard during the paranormal segment was composed by David Beard and is called Churchyard.

In the recap of Lesson 8: The Waning Moon Ritual, I basically just carefully read over the ritual and made a list of the items I will need for this. Moving onto Lesson 9: Communicating with the Dead, the lesson explains the Wicca belief of the afterlife involving reincarnation and the Summerlands. I look forward to building my ancestor alter. For your alter, you can include the following:

  • Names and pictures of family members who have died
  • Candles
  • Incense
  • Offering Dish (rice, sugar, cornmeal, or some other food)
  • Basically anything else you want

Spend a few minutes each day at the alter. Burn the incense and candles and talk to your ancestors. Tell them anything you want. Share with them you happiness or concerns. Once you are done, extinguish your candle and incense, and carry on with your day. This lesson also starts the reader with their dream journal. The book recommends having your journal by your bed for easy access. My advice is to have a digital voice recorder by your bed, then take the time later that day to write your information in your journal. By using the recorder, you can add to it throughout the day as details are remembered and, in my opinion, it is a lot quicker to speak out random bits and pieces than trying to write them. It is also a good practice to notate certain details like: What phase was the moon in? What was the weather like? What was the temperature of the room you were in? Did this dream occur close to a sabbat? What did you last eat and drink before you went to sleep? If you watched a movie, what was it? Were you relaxed before going to bed or were you involved in some sort of activity?

Hot Topic:

The Hot Topic from episode 8 I asked about your interpretation of the portion of the Wiccan Rede that states harm none. Basically everyone was in agreement that you can harm if it is a means of protection. This can be to protect yourself or others. I received a ton of feedback on this one and I thank you all for such a response!! For the new Hot Topic which will be discussed in Episode 12 deals with communicating with the dead. I want to know your views on seances and Ouija boards and any other form of communicating with the dead that you can think of. Tell me your thoughts, your experiences, or experiences that you have heard of.

Paranormal Segment:

I shared with you my experience with my father a year after his death. It is funny how even in the afterlife, parents will still be parents!! It was hard to share this experience on the podcast, but it is an experience I will never forget and felt it was a worthy story to be told. For next week’s episode, I will share with you my experience with my mother about 2 years after her death.

Thank you all for joining me for episode 10 and I can’t wait to spend more time with you on episode 11.

Blessed Be,

MeadowMoon

Episode 7 (Repost)

Merry Meet Everyone!!

I start off the show by going over some listener feedback I received concerning Wands. So far I have received 2 emails concerning last week’s Hot Topic, so if you have not responded yet please do so this week. A poem was submitted to the website by Ronnie so don’t miss it on the homepage.

This week’s music is Harvest by Hungry Lucy found on the Podsafe Music Network. More music by her can be found here.

As for the lessons, I recapped Lesson 5: Casting a Circle. I really enjoyed this lesson and was unable to do the portion concerning the Full Moon Ritual but will on the next full moon. Moving forward onto Lesson 6, we learn about Magical Tools. The lesson starts of with explaining the difference between a pentagram and a pentacle and provides an explanation of what the points of the star represent. The lesson continues by teaching the reader on how to create a sacred space. The lesson ends with Psychic Communication. I am really looking forward to completing the lesson this week.

Mabon will be on Sept. 22. Though I have never been able to officially celebrate this sabbat, I can offer a tiny bit of information to those who are new and interested in celebrating the arrival of autumn. Mabon is the celebration of the 2nd harvest and is the 1st date of the autumn equinox. It is a time to be thankful and take into account what you have accomplished over the past year.

Candle colors associated with Mabon are autumn colors like burgundy, orange, brown, etc.

Fragrance generally used: Sweetgrass, pine myrrh

Types of Food: Roasted poultry or smoked, various breads, nuts, various soups, wine…Typical items you may normally have on a typical Thanksgiving Day.

You can search the internet for activities generally performed on Mabon. As for myself, I will be lighting candles and taking some time alone to reflect on my life this past year. It has been amazing: started homeschooling sons, started working from home, strengthened relationship with family, thankful for such a supporting husband, etc…

I thank the Lord and Lady for helping me find the strength to take the leap of faith I had to take in order to make my life as amazing as it is today!!

Don’t forget, if you have not done so already, become a friend of the show over on Facebook. You can also follow me on Twitter, just go to twitter.com/meadowmoon. Also, if you haven’t voted at Podcast Alley for this month, go over and vote!!

Look forward to chatting with you again on Episode 8…
